​Abstract

TxABA PPG Officers will provide an overview of the PPG's legislative priorities for the 89th session: expedited credentialing for commercial payers and Medicaid, removing age of diagnosis and dollar caps from the Texas Autism Insurance Mandate, including generally accepted standards for medical necessity considerations, and support for HHSC Exceptional Item 24, which calls for a budget increase for the Medicaid Autism Services (ABA) benefit. Officers will review how these priorities will improve access to medically necessary care, reduce administrative burden, and improve business opportunities across the state.


Learning Objectives

  • Participants will identify how the current autism insurance mandate violates federal law and why the age of diagnosis requirements and dollar caps need to be removed.

  • Participants will explain why recognition of generally accepted standards of care will reduce administrative burden when developing treatment plans and preparing for peer review or appeal/ fair hearing.

  • Participants will identify how EPSDT requirements support rate increases for the autism services benefit through Texas Medicaid.
